DJGA receives $20,000 grant
United States Golf Association

The majority of the funding is to establish junior tournaments and golf lessons in rural communities of ND. These satellite clinics are designed to promote the integrity and character of our junior golfers. Dakota Junior Golf will start developmental programs with the hope that small towns will continue to build and maintain these programs with the support from the their local communities.

The remainder of the funds will be used for new golf clubs for lessons, 50 new sets of golf clubs for rental to juniors at the five Bismarck-Mandan golf courses and for Cayman golf balls for lessons at the junior links.

What does the future look like for DJGA ?

The following set of goals have been developed by the board of Dakota Junior Golf Association:

1. Continue to build on the Sheila Schafer Junior Golf Trust Fund, thus enabling us to create a self supporting entity that will continue to promote our philosophy well into the next century.

2. Coordinate efforts with other Junior Golf Programs in ND. Both financially and logistically.

3. Coordinate a state wide fund raising program.

4. Build an instruction facility in Bismarck for the purpose of training instructors statewide.
